It would be really nice if Tkabber come with a pretty Systray which is well animated. Some eyecandy Systray. I know there is a Systray but its not really good looking and its not integrated in the Tkabber by default AFAIK.
I use Jabber, ICQ by Transport and IRC. Therefore I would be really happy if Tkabber could implement IRC, I would be able to uninstall Xchat with its Systray and it's Systrays notification if some Highlights happen in any Channel. I don't know if Jabber now supports IRC by Transport but I if somebody knows something about this special Transport it would be interesting.

IRC transport
Jabber clients are Jabber clients, not IRC clients. I do not know what Tkabber developers will think, but I do not think IRC support will be added to Tkabber.
Jabber phylosophy, as I understand it, tries to move the complex tasks to the server, and leave the clients as light as possible. This is why all the connection from Jabber to other messaging networks are done on the server, using transports.
So the way to go is having an IRC transport. Some time ago there was in development an irc-t, but it gave technical problems and was unusable. I didn't even use it.
The Ejabberd Jabber server has an embedded IRC transport, but I don't know how good it is. Also, to use this transport you need an Ejabberd, and the most used Jabber servers is Jabberd and Jabberd2. Also, the Ejabberd developers priority will be the Jabber support, not the IRC embedded transport.
Finally, I read that the same developer behind MUC is working on a new IRC transport based on MUC. I'm waiting news on this subject, as I think this is the most interesting effort regarding IRC access from Jabber.
Of course, you can always use a multi-network client, like Gaim.
