New Tkabber-Pack 0.9.6.2

I've released a new version of Tkabber-Pack, the Tkabber installer for Windows. Previous version was Tkabber-Pack-031222 released in late december.

Go to Tkabber-Pack section for download links and more information.

It seems the old Tkabber-Pack uninstaller is not capable of successfully remove the old installation. If this is your case, just remove the old directory and reinstall.

Tkabber-Pack Changelog:

Installing Tkabber and dependencies

Here we will see how to install Tkabber and the required dependencies on different operating systems and distributions.

We will suppose you have administrative privileges on the machine (for installing packages) and a minimum knowledge in dealing with your operating system (or interest in learning :).

This tutorial will include instructions for installing the different packages on different systems. Contributions are welcome.

Tkabber Plugins: Overview and installation

On the Tkabber CVS there are some external plugins. You can download them directly from CVS using the instructions available on the Documentation.

The common installation procedure is to copy the plugin directory to $HOME/.tkabber/plugins. Tkabber will automatically load the plugins when it's started. Tkabber Starpacks <= 0.10.0 already include all the plugins, starting from 0.11.0 you have to download and install them separately

The plugins that you will surely want to try are: Chess, GeoRoster and Whiteboard.

Roster groups administration

We will see here how to move contacts from one roster group to another and how to create new groups, including nested ones.

Even Tkabber does no use the common procedure for administrate roster groups, it's really easy once you make it the first time.

New Tkabber website powered by Drupal

The new Tkabber website is powered by Drupal, a powerful CMS written in PHP, freely available and GPL distributed. The old website can still be found here.
