To use latex plugin you must

To use latex plugin you must have working AmSLaTeX installation (MikTeX should work), dvips (included into MikTeX as well), ghostscript and ImageMagick (specifically, convert utility). All binaries must be placed into directories listed in PATH. The main trouble with all this is that Windows includes its own convert.exe which converts filesystems instead of images. So, you have to ensure that convert.exe from ImageMagick resides in PATH environment variable earlier than Windows' one.

latex error: child process

latex error: child process exited abnormally

Re: How to run Tkabber with latex plugin in Windows

There's also a probably simpler (and faster) way to get roughly the same functionality: Tkabber has a third-party plugin called "mimetex" — it uses mimeTeX engine which is presented in a form of single binary file.

Clearly, putting it to work is probably simpler, but mimeTex lacks some features provided by AmSTeX.
